According to Daring to Live Fully, "a passion project is an activity or enterprise that you decide to take on—usually in your spare time–in order to gain some benefit for yourself. That is, it's a challenge that you willingly embrace because you hope to gain something from it."
My Passion Project is about learning the art of pulling a shot of espresso, steaming milk, latte art, and the best technique to capture it in a photo. I will be mainly working in my home kitchen in the mornings, after school, and on the weekends. I have always been an avid coffee drinker and I want to get into the art and technique of drinking creation. This combined with my prior knowledge of photography skills will combine the two things that I love most. By learning and practicing the art of pulling a shot of espresso, steaming milk, and latte art, as well as learning specific techniques for photographing drinks.
Goal 1: My first goal is to determine the different types of espresso drinks and how to build them properly, from pulling a shot to steaming the milk.
Goal 2: A drink can taste amazing, but visually, can look like a train wreck. My second goal is making drinks look nice, such as latte art.
Goal 3: I mainly photograph people, and each different “genre” of photography requires different techniques. Goal three will focus on the techniques of photographing non-people subjects.
Goal 4: Goal four is to combine everything that I learned in the previous three goals into one beautiful product.
